Star Trek: Starbase 777 - crew-quarters

Kya sighed softly as she woke up, she couldn’t sleep. She was always like this on a new posting, it took her a few days to get a full good nights sleep, so she might as well get ready for the day. Kya hopped out of bed and walked towards the shower, after taking a few minutes to shower, brush her teeth, and other hygiene requirements she swiftly got dressed into her uniform, and kneeled in front of her personal shine she took with her to each posting, so she took a moment to pray silently to the prophets. “Prophets, please protect this station and its crew for as long as you are able. Watch over my parents in my stead, and those who have passed. Thank you.”

TW // pet death mention At this hour, Rehszan was preparing a body for transport. He always sent his bugs home to be buried. The unfortunate thing about insects was that they just ... didn't have long lifespans. The same was unfortunately true for Xatar, his beautiful orchid mantis. She'd been getting slower, eating less, then not eating at all. This morning, he'd found her, frail and motionless. It never got any easier. Rehszan sealed the container with a sigh, shutting off the light to her enclosure. He'd deliver it to his parents when it wasn't so early. For now, he just needed some time to process. (edited)

Unfortunately she was awake at this ungodly hour. Though she usually enjoyed her sleep, her pet, Gizmo, had other plans for the early morning hours. The cat-like creature was laying across her stomach, purring very loudly. Coda of course did not have the heart to tell her beloved pet to stop, so she just pet Gizmo causing the cat to purr even louder. Well, a early morning start never hurt anyone she supposed.

CW: nightmare, death, zombies Total darkness. Serene peace and quiet. Then... All that changed. Flashes of light... Before it all became a bit clearer... Into a nightmare. It was a rogue faction ship... One Essen couldn't quite make out. But all of a sudden... She felt herself being restrained. Being held back. By whoever or whatever it was... Until she then saw a figure in front of her. It was... Kaylee? Screaming... And crying... Also being held back... Restrained... By an organic life form... And being taken away. The words 'let me go' emanating from her mouth, while Essen screamed, but no sound came out... She had a mouth but could not speak... She could only watch as Kaylee was dragged away... And then, the nightmare changed. It was in the middle of a Starfleet vessel. It looked like Starbase 777, but it was... Different? The areas seemed differently laid out, almost as if Essen had imagined them. But in the center... A long, rectangular prism shaped box... With the letters VALKYRIE emblazoned on it in gold leaf. A voice rang out. It was Kaylee's. 'Why couldn't you save me?' Over and over again... Progressively getting louder... Turning into a scream... Until the box opened, revealing a zombified Kaylee inside, reaching out to spring forwards at Essen, aimed right for her, in a screeching squealing scream, almost inhuman! And then... A blood-curdling feminine scream, this time more human-seeming, as the nightmare ended, and Essen jolted awake, sitting up in her bed. Panting, huffing, out of breath, as tears ran down her face. "No... No, that wasn't real... IT WASN'T REAL!!!" She said aloud. "Computer, status of Lieutenant Junior Grade Kaylee Valkyrie, engineering." The computer would respond that Kaylee was perfectly fine, elsewhere on the starbase. Phew... That wasn't a good nightmare at all. She'd have to tell Kaylee about this. But it was 4am... Was it too early? She didn't want to wake Kaylee up!

Phoenix was going over the last bits of detailing before he went to sleep regarding certain things he had to implement regarding personal matters. His fingers clicking the PADDs buttons as he tried to beat the urge of tiredness. He knew he had to finish the work at some point and it would be easier if he finished it now. But other things occupied his mind as he kind of hoped that he could ask one of the people he knew if they would take part in any type of activity with him. Placing his PADD on the side of his bed as he briefly took in his surroundings as he tried his best to think about things. Perhaps One of the things he could do was start building bird houses and help tend to the wildlife while not on duty.

Niwa was half-asleep at best; lying on her side on the sofa in the living room, curled up as best she could. So far she had already had to get up twice to pee, baby’s foot was pressing on her ribs, and everything ached. Exterior: glowing! Interior: why am I putting myself through this for a second time? “I can’t wait to give birth to you,” she muttered after baby kicked her again.

Kaylee was awoken by...a scream? No, it was her Padd beeping at her. A priority message? No, again it was just Essen. She had set Essen's to priority messages. Not as high as work priority, but for off-duty priority. She squinted at her padd screen, before leaping out of her bed and throwing on her uniform. Her hair was all over the place and not even tied up, but it didn't matter. Her girlfriend needed her. Before she left she checked Mako's crate. Oh, right, he was with Essen tonight. Kaylee sped out of her quarters, as quickly and as quietly as she could run down the hall towards the turbo lift to go to the command quarters. Once she had arrived, she went into Essen's quarters. "Essen? Love, are you okay? Essen? What's wrong?" Kaylee's concern was so strong it was almost suffocating. She was so worried. Mostly because she barely read the padd message. Only getting "I need you here. I'm begging."

CW death and zombies Essen, only in a T-shirt and shorts, jumped out of her bed when she saw Kaylee come in, and rushed to her, giving her the biggest hug she ever gave Kaylee thus far, crying into Kaylee's shoulders... "Babe... I had a nightmare... It was about you... It was the worst nightmare I've ever had... We were on a mission, and you got captured by a rogue faction. They held me back from saving you. Then, it showed... Your coffin. In a memorial ceremony. Your voice rang out saying 'why didn't you save me?' Before the casket opened... And you rose from the dead... To kill me..." She sobbed even more, into the shoulders of her girlfriend. "It wasn't real... It can't be real... I can't let it happen... Never..."

"Essen.." Kaylee hugged her tightly back. "Essen, dear, its okay. I'm here. I'm okay. Its okay." Kaylee's eyes welled up with tears as she took a deep breath. If she cried it would make Essen feel worse. She gently rubbed Essen's back as she continued to comfort her. "I'm here. I'm okay. Everything's okay. It was just a nightmare. You're okay. You're fine." Kaylee wasn't sure what to feel. But she was sure her girlfriend needed her here. So she continued to hug her, comforting her love until she felt better. It did sound like a scary dream. This 'dream Kaylee' projecting blame onto Essen for something that wasny her fault. That must have hurt Essen bad. "Its okay. It won't happen, I promise."

She'd been regenerating. Not sleeping, regenerating, her cat settled onto her shoulders as she'd always preferred to be while Twelve went through regeneration. She shouldn't have dreamt at all. Shouldn't have slipped into a dreaming state at all. Borg never dreamed. Or well, she reckoned she hadn't. Yet. She'd discovered herself herself somewhere, dreaming in her Alcove. A forest, a beautiful expansive forest, pockmarked with structures. Structures she...recognised? There were people there, many people, different species. People who, in the case of those she discovered close to her, seemed to recognize her. Where.. was this place? What had possessed her mind to make this dream. This dream that included people from other places, people she'd..never met, or so she..believed. Where was she, she wondered again as her dream self wandered about, tried to talk to people. Approached some who looked..human, hoped they'd know what this was. Hoped her dream would be something easily explained by her own mind..or something. Hoped these things as she approached the duo. Approached the young humans. Drew close and breathed in ready to speak before one of them turned. Turned and said one word. One word that snapped her into wakefulness. One single word, phrased as a question as it was uttered. Mom. A word that rang about her skull as she surged to consciousness. That remained there even as she recorded the incident in her alcove's logs and directed the computer to send copies of the incident file to the medical and bio medical engineering. Sent these off and then resumed her regeneration cycle. What remained of it, at least.

Essen had the eyes of a frightened child once more - the same eyes that she had when Kaylee was in the turbolift. The same eyes that she had when she was scolded for disobeying orders... Those same eyes looked into Kaylee's, eyes that welled up with tears continually, although she did feel much better now that Kaylee was here. "That wasn't the real you I saw. That wasn't real. You're not a zombie. You're still alive. You're here." Before she hugged Kaylee again, crying into her shoulder. "That tribble incident really did something to me... Something really bad... It wasn't your fault or mine... It wasn't anybody's fault. But it still did something bad... But you make everything better." She looked at Kaylee, staring into her eyes - and those eyes comforted Essen a bit now. She held the back of Kaylee's head, a smile beginning to form on her face again, but a feeble smile, a broken... Broken smile...

"Hey, its okay. I...I know. Everything's okay though. You're fine. I'm here. You're here. We're both here together. And we're okay." Kaylee's voice started to crack as she saw Essen's face. Those frightened eyes. She looked so scared. So broken. It hurt Kaylee's heart. "No, I'm okay. I'm alive. It didn't happen and it won't." Kaylee did look barely put together. She was surprised that Essen recognised it as her. Her uniform was skewiff, her hair all over the place, and she look half-asleep still. She could easily fall asleep standing up here. But she didn't. She was staying awake for her dearest love. She stifled a yawn, hopefully quiet enough that Essen didn't hear, and just held her in her arms.

Essen kept on crying into the shoulders of her girlfriend, before she was able to get a handle on herself, wiping away her tears. This was the worst case scenario, the nightmare was - the worst possible nightmare she could have had, at least in her own opinion. She'd not mind a nightmare where she was flat-out being embarrassed by her colleagues as much as this. No, this was bad. But finally, it seemed like the crying was over, and she looked at Kaylee. "Stay with me for a bit...my love?" Essen said. "Please...? So I'm not alone. I can't be alone right now..." Essen wasn't one to have nightmares too often. But when they did happen, they happened and they hit HARD. This was by far the worst. Essen put her hands on Kaylee's shoulders, rubbing them for a second before she blinked a few times. "I hope you've never had any bad nightmares about me too... This is a first for me."

Kaylee blinked away any tears in her eyes. "Of course. Anything for you my dear. Anything." And again, she stifled a yawn. She was still quite half asleep. But she'd stay awake all night and all day for her girlfriend. The one who she loved took priority over all. "Where's Mako? His breed was made for cuddles too. I think we should do a family cuddle." Kaylee heard her words about the nightmares. "No, not any nightmares. I can't imagine how it must've felt. But I'm here now. You don't have to be afraid anymore."

*Bark! Bark bark! Bark! Mako, in his dog bed, trotted over to Essen and Kaylee as Essen took a seat on the edge of her bed. Mako jumped up to the side of the bed, sitting in Essen's lap as he gave her a bunch of doggo kisses!* "Hey, hehehey," Essen laughed as Mako have gave her kisses. Then Mako trotted over to Kaylee to give her a bunch of doggo kisses before sitting politely in Kaylee's lap! "You're right, family cuddle," Essen said, a smile returning to her face, setting her head on Kaylee's shoulders. "Thank goodness you haven't had any nightmares about me. Yeah... I don't have to be afraid anymore...not with my babygirl..."

Vovvi, too, was fast asleep at this hour. A little while before her alarm went off, she'd be damned to be up at 0400... Unbeknownst to her, a sneaky little Andorian girl had slipped under her mother's covers a few hours prior, dozing off at her side.

Disturbing everyone, no matter what they were doing, was the sound of the red alert klaxon booming through the quarters. It only lasted for a moment before it got cut off – and any lights, nightlights, computers, or PADDs suddenly went offline.

An instant reaction to the split second of the Klaxon, was to sit straight up, look around her, and grip Essen tightly. As Mako started to bark at the sudden noise and darkness, Kaylee tried to calm him down whilst trying to figure things out. Engineer brain had woken her up now, and she was already running through some possibilities.

In a sudden panic, Essen clasps onto Kaylee and Mako, her mind racing. "No...NO! This can't be real! Wake up, Essen, WAKE UP!!! I need to wake up!!! This can't be real... It's just another nightmare! I'm dreaming!" Essen's heart rate spiked, as she went into a panic, and didn't know how to process any of this. She was fully convinced that now this was not the real Kaylee or the real Mako... Her eyes filled with fear once more, her hands trembling...

One minute, he was seated at the foot of his bed, staring off into nothing. The next, his eyes flickered and went dead, and Rehszan went slack.

Kaylee heard her dearest cry out in fear, and she pulled Essen to a stand. She fumbled around in her pockets to find a mini flashlight, for use in fixing equipment, and tried to turn it on. "No, Essen, you're okay I promise. Everything's fine. Its probably just a malfunction in the ships systems. You're okay." Kaylee grabbed the hairtie from her wrist and tied her unfortunately messy hair into a ponytail, rather than the neater style she normally opted for. "Mako boy, its okay. Everything's fine." Kaylee was now the voice of reason..thank god she can keep herself mostly calm. Engineer brain was carrying her though. "Its fine."

Kya grumbled and stood to her feet quickly as she moved into the corridors outside of her room, only to find the door didn’t open at first. “Hm.” She said as she pushed it open to step into the hallway. “Hello? Anyone alive out there?” She asked politely, immediately noticing everything appeared to be turned off. “Huh, damn it all.” She said with a sign as she slowly moved through the corridors knocking on doors to wake people inside, “Hello? This is Lieutenant Commander Pok, we currently have an emergency on the station. Please get yourselves together as soon as possible!”

The red alert made her go into an instant work mode, sitting up so quickly that Gizmo jumped and hissed at her, fur all puffed up and angry. She tried to grab her PADD to see what was going on, but in her haste to get up she trips and sprawls onto the ground. Her cat still hissing at her as she stumbled on to her feet and got her usual uniform on. Her heart was beating loudly in her ears, but nothing was working! She was sure she heard the alert... right? It wasn't a trick made up by her tired brain?

Kaylee's presence and reassuring words immediately calmed Essen, thankfully, and thankfully they were both together here at the same time rather than separated. Phew... This was not the way she wanted to go about things, a massive blackout, from what it seemed. "Thanks, babygirl," Essen said, keeping Kaylee close. Then the knock on the doors startled Essen, to which she heard a voice. It was Lieutenant Commander Pok! Needing to h e a v e to open the door, which was heavier than anything else she'd ever held, Essen looked outside to see that apparently not only her quarters had gone dark. "I can hear you, Commander," Essen said. "Looks like light isn't doing the light it needs to. Or anything." (edited)

No torch, no PADD; and as Kya found out, no doors. They didn't open normally - and being heavy, they were going to take some h e a v i n g to open.

"Mako, bed." Kaylee gave a sharp command to Mako, who immediately complied. Normally the dog would've denied, but he almost sensed this was more serious and sat down in his bed. He would, hopefully, stay there until everything was sorted. "No doors huh? Or light..." Kaylee tried flicking her flashlight a few more times, to no avail. Damn. "Its fine. Probably forgot to recharge the batteries in this." Kaylee helped her girlfriend heave the doors open, taking a deep breath as she stepped out. Essen seemed to have calmed down now. Good. Okay. Signs. Signals. What happened. The red alert was. Gone? She would've sworn it went off.

Kya nodded as she looked at Essen heaving the door open. “Okay, this is not ideal. It seems most systems are down, which means doors are not going to work without heavy pushing and such, I don’t know if it’s localized just to this deck but regardless, I would be concerned about it effecting crew members with technological augmentations.” She mumbled to herself but also Essen and Kaylee. “You two lovebirds! I’m going to go further down the hall and see if I can’t find anyone else, stay in this general area. If you know anyone on this deck with tech enhancements, see if you can’t find them and help them.” She said before getting into a light jog to knock on some doors, which would not make her the most popular person today she knew.

"Yes Ma'am. Essen, you know this deck better than me. Anyone with cybernetics here?" Kaylee asked. Cybernetics were like equipment too, right? If they were in any trouble, she could probably try her best. She didn't want to hurt them more....but that was just first aid right? Like, you do CPR to save someone, even if it'll break some ribs...

Still in her half panic she ran to her door, expecting it to open but instead she ran into it like an idiot. She took a moment to rub her head and then began to try top open the doors manually. Her cat, Gizmo thought it would be helpful to jump on her shoulders at this time as Coda heaved against the doors, opening it just enough for her and Gizmo to slide through... into a dark corridor. "Okay Gizmo... do you have night vision or something? Can you be like... any help at all?" In response the cat just purred and licked her paws

"Aye, sir," Essen replied. "I think-- SHIT! Vara'l! We need to find him! He's probably having trouble with his implants! We need to get him out of his quarters! Come on, babe! It's in the crew quarters section." She takes Kaylee's hand, squeezing it three times, before heading out to the #staff-quarters. (edited)

Kaylee followed Essen to #staff-quarters, ready to try and help if she can.

Twelve managed to, when the sudden failure of her Alcove and her implants catapulted her into consciousness, get to the door of her quarters before the weight of what had happened started to knock her out again. She gasped, her cat having jumped off of her by this point, meowing in concern as Twelve slipped to the floor next to the door. Deaf, the world silent as she struggled to keep consciousness. Struggled and hammered at the door and inhaled before she'd yelled..or tried to yell. "Help!" And had then passed out.

The question was, how were Essen and Kaylee going to get to the staff quarters? That was on another deck...

In her half-awake state she had thought that the sound of the klaxon was Kea making a racket (as she tended to do, it really could be ear-splitting), but the sudden cut-off was what told her otherwise. It was hastily that she got up and made her way to Kea’s room, reassuring the child who had also been abruptly woken up. “I don’t know why the lights aren’t coming on, Kea,” she said softly – although it was more to herself than actually to Kea, wondering out-loud what was going on. “Put your dressing gown and your slippers on, just in case we have to go somewhere…”

Shit. Uhhhh... "Tube time, babe," Essen said to Kaylee as she used the Jeffries tubes to climb up through the tubes and to the #staff-quarters.

Kaylee followed Essen into the tubes, pocketing her non-fucntional flashlight. Stupid flashlight. Not stupid working when we stupid needed it.

Kya nodded as she saw them move out, and continued to knock on doors. In her mind she labeled them as lovebird 1 and lovebird 2 and made sure to keep the list of people she knew the status of handy in her brain. “I could probably go get my candles for my quarters for a light source.” She said as she sprinted back to her room, quickly lit one of her religious candles, grabbed one of her cooking knifes and tried it to her belt and set out back on the path to try and wake people on the crew deck. “Hello! There is a station emergency! Please step out of your rooms!”

A moment later emergency lights kicked on. That was a sign that back-up generators were working, all of which controlled things like life support… But judging by how long it had taken to kick in, they weren’t functioning as well as normal… So how long would life support last?

After being repeatedly headbutted by a worried cat then hit. Twelve slowly managed to return to consciousness. As she did so, she then proceeded to pet her cat one handed. Then she started to run through an attempted self-diagnostic of her current condition as the initial shock ebbed and she then worked out just how much she could do without another moment where she slipped into unconsciousness. She'd then started her slow way to where she kept a tricorder in one of her drawerers. Once she arrived over there and worked out how to get up and get to it without the benefit of her implanted tech. As she got it..then noted that the lights had flickered on..she had then tried her door.

She had heard someone call for help.. Twelve? She had met her a few times before, so using the walls as a guide, she walked down the hallways, arriving at what she assumed to be Twelve's door just as the lights kicked on. She squinted as she began to pry open the doors. "Twelve!?"

Twelve might have found her way to the tricorder, but unfortunately, it wouldn't light up upon being opened. The doors opened just a smidge, but it was still going to take some manual handling to open them enough for someone to get through.

“Ah, candle plan was useless then.” She laughed slightly to herself as she put it down near her quarters, before hearing Coda yell out Twelve. Kya rushed to the sound of the voice as she saw Coda struggle with the doors. “Here.” She said as she pushed with Coda to try and fully open it. “Help your friend, I’ll get this open fully.”

She slipped through the slightly open door, her cat following at her heels. "Twelve, you okay? anything I can grab? It's easier to see now, uhm... sorry it took a moment to open the doors."

Red alert klaxon. Vovvi jolted awake, nearly shoving poor Ivissa off in the process, who whined in protest and tried to get back to bed. "Vissa. Vissa. Up, get dressed," she whispered, gently shaking her until she pulled herself up. "It's okay-- it's okay. I'm sure it's nothing, but let's be ready to go just in case."

Twelve dropped the tricorder and.. completely oblivious to what the other person happened to be saying as her hearing implants had failed, attempted to help pry the door open. "I cant hear you, hearing implants are dead." Twelve managed, her words uttered a tad too loudly than she'd intended, as she tried to see who it was who'd also started to pry at her door.

She was regretting not replicating herself a new dressing gown that she could actually tie at the front, given that the replicators were now offline. Was it actually cold in here, or was it just nerves making her feel cold? She padded to the door and peered out of the small gap from where the door had unlatched when the emergency power kicked in. "Hello, is everyone okay out there? Does anyone know what's going on?"

Vovvi scooped Ivissa up once they were both dressed, letting the little one doze off on her shoulder while she investigated outside. And, hearing a little voice from down the hall, she found she couldn't...quite understand what she was saying. Elements.. "Hello...?" she tentatively tried, hoping it was a brief fritz, or someone knew high Rihannsu.. (edited)

Kya moved into the quarters and moved to the side of Twelve, moving a chair up and offering a hand to them, clearly inferring she would move them to the chair. “Okay, that’s 5 including myself.”

As soon as the door was opened enough, Twelve slipped outside next to Coda..and wobbled a bit before she propped herself up against a wall. Once there, as she petted her cat, she looked about the group. "I'm deaf." The El-Aurian proceeded to say again as she looked about the group, looked around and then had signed exactly what she'd just said in standard sign before she'd accepted the Llieutenant Commanders hand.

A very heavy sleeper, Jayselle had only been slightly stirred by the singular sound of the Red Alert klaxon. It usually took until the second to wake her up. However, what had instead woken her up, oddly enough, was the emergency lights kicking in, her room in her quarters up until this point having been pitch black, just they way she liked it. Slowly sitting upright, the very short sighted hybrid reached for her contacts case, only to find it locked shut. The case wasn't just a case, you see, it was also an automatic cleaning device, so it was usually locked shut during the cleaning process. You can probably guess what it had been doing when the power went out. Letting out what could only be described as a rather undignified groan, the fresh Ensign climbed out of bed, putting her slippers on after struggling to find them, before attempting to leave her room. Problem two: Doors. The door between her room and the main room had been closed, but it had popped open when emergency power had activated, giving her enough grip to try and pry it open. However, it took one hell of a lot of effort for her to manage to get even that open. Dodging the coffee table by only a few centimetres, her telepathy coming in quite handy, when she got to the main door to exit her quarters she all but sighed, opting to peer out into the corridor instead via her weaker telepathy. Hearing someone speak up down the corridor, though, they called back, albeit in a heavily accented Standard, the language being her third. "Hello? Are you okay? I think the power went out."

Kya took the hand and helped Twelve into the seat she pulled out for them. Before signing at them. ”Are you okay?”

She felt a bit useless at the moment as she was unable to sign herself. She had never learned, though right at this moment she wished that she had, or at least understood some of what was being signed in the conversation. "Ah... shit, I didn't know you were deaf... the whole station seems to be malfunctioning here. Nothing works, no PADD, no tricorder, and I doubt the turbolift works... I do know the Jeffries tubes pretty well, but traveling that way is... unpleasant." Coda absentmindedly pet Gizmo, the cat-like creature was currently lounging herself across Coda's neck.

Twelve signed. "I'm not, I think all my implants are inactive, my hearing implants aren't working at all." The El-Aurian informed them. "Worried what this means for nanites." They'd then added before they'd glanced to Coda..and managed to catch the back end of what they'd proceeded to say. "I can lipread, if alerted to someone trying to talk to me and given time to face someone, if that helps." She'd then added in that off tone tone.

She could hear talking outside, but some of it was in languages she didn't know. The universal translator must be down too... Which wasn't great given that her ability to speak Standard wasn't fantastic. "Hello?" She called again through the small gap in the door. "Is everyone there okay out? What's going on?" Awesome word order!

Hearing a voice call out again Jayselle responded, trying to remember how to pronounce words in Standard that she usually spoke in either Aenar or Orion so as to not absolutely butcher the pronunciation based on the dialects she was more used to. "I'm okay. I can't see very well and my telepathy can only go so far. My door isn't opening, either. Are you okay?" She called out in reply to the Lieutenant, not that she knew who the heck she was speaking to.

She motioned to Twelve so they could see her talking. “My first plan would be to see if anyone else pops up on this deck, then try to head to the command deck from here. It will probably be a very long crawl, but I’ve done worse.”

She didn't know how to respond. "Vissa- you're learning Standard, can you try your best to translate?" Receiving an affirmative nod, Ivissa tried to translate back and forth between herself and Niwayiva. Saying; "Power's out.. No one's hurt. Are you okay?"

It wasn't herself who responded but Keazayi instead, recognising Ivissa's voice. "Hi! We're not hurt! But this door is-" A couple of small hands shoved themselves through the gap in the door and tried to tug it, as if that was going to work. "Superly stronger than me!" Niwa just shook her head, although she did think that Kea's attempt to try to pry open the door was quite cute.

Twelve turned to look back at Lieutenant Commander Pok and watched and lipread as they proceeded to speak. Once they'd finished, she'd then nodded slightly and signed. "Anyone like us, Liberated Borg or someone with cybernetics is..probably also struggling like we are." She paused a moment. "They may need assistance exiting, same with anyone who might not be able to open the door on their own."

Vovvi moved fast, putting Ivissa down to try to help pry open the door. "Well, it might be stronger than me, too," she huffed, though deadpanned at Ivissa. "Don't translate that. Just..." "Stand back, we're helping!" chirped Ivissa, very much so not physically helping. Not that anyone expected her to. Little baby arms could only do so much. (edited)

Listening in it wasn't hard to Jayselle to pick up on the voices of children. Oh Gods, she forgot there were kids stationed with their parents. She dreaded to think how scared some might be, but these two sounded relatively okay, all things considered. "Hate to interrupt, but does anyone know how heavy these doors are?" She asked, now trying to pry open her own door. The sooner she was out of her quarters the sooner she could actually be useful. Or at least not feel quite so claustrophobic.

"Mom says she doesn't have a bunch of arms, and she doesn't know 'cause she's Romulan and it's different! Are you okay?" chirped the little voice, followed by tiny feet running closer to the sound of Jayselle's voice. "Are you hurt?" "Fvadt! How heavy are these doors!?" Vovvi cursed under her breath, thankful neither mother or child could understand that much.

Without so much as looking down at the child as she approached Jayselle continued to try and open the door. She had core strength, sure, but these doors were hefty. "I'm... Good... Thank you..." She said, trying to control her breathing as she pulled at the door. After a moment of pulling and only slightly budging the door, not nearly enough to get out yet, she stopped and let out a tired sounding sigh. "Are you okay?" She asked Ivissa without looking at her, her eyes practically useless so almost entirely having to rely on her telepathy to see the girl.

She'd have been useless if it had been her trying to open the door, so she was glad that other people had shown up to assist. Kea darted out of the small gap immediately, slippers flip-flopping off the floor as she bee-lined to Ivissa. Niwa wasn't much further behind, albeit having to wait until the door was open a little wider. If only she had taken the time to get dressed instead of wearing pastel-coloured short jammies and a dressing gown that was too small to tie around her middle. "Thank you for out getting us," Niwa said as she joined the group, immediately casting her gaze over everyone to check for injuries. "The are doors here far too heavy."

Twelve, from her seated position, attempted and failed to follow all the conversation as it occurred while completely deaf. As she tried and failed to do this, she occasionally winced, the lack of active implants in her body something that she'd started to find quite uncomfortable. After all, some of her implants happened to be..quite important.

Vovvi smiled tentatively in response as Ivissa called back what Niwayiva had said, squeezing her hand very firmly in Kea's the way her mom always did when she was scared. "Ah-- there's voices coming from the mess hall. Maybe there's someone there who can help... It's not an issue, really." One more to go. Vovvi moved to try to help pry Jayselle free, her arms exhausted by this point. "We're okay!" chirped the little voice. "Pull, mom's trying to get you out!"

As Vovvi came over to help Jayselle out, Jayselle in turn pushed against the door as well to help pry it open, grunting a little as she did. "I know these are blast doors, but good grief could they get any heavier?" She complained as she pushed, voice strained. Once the door was opened enough for her to get out the hybrid let out a sigh of relief, trying to control her breathing. "Thank you kindly." She said, sounding genuinely grateful, all while offering the strangers a friendly smile, her hair admittedly far messier than she would've liked it to be right now. Plus, she was in her nightgown, which was the opposite of practical or appropriate attire for a Starfleet officer. It would take her too long to get changed, though.

Kya poked her head out of the quarters to see the large group slowly gathering. Kya moved towards them. “I’m planning to head to command soon, if anyone wants to join me your more then welcome.” She looked down to Ivissa, catching that she was translate. “Oh! Hey there sweetie! Would you mind translating what I just said for everyone who can’t understand, if you can?”

Ivissa froze up at the strangers speaking to her. Apparently it was fine through the door, but besides that... Ducking behind Vovvi's leg, she nodded, and relayed the information in a shaky voice. Vovvi's attention was turned toward the mess hall.. "I just hope everything is over with soon. Before anything gets worse, that is.."

Twelve looked absolutely mystified with what was presently being said as people conversed. Something that if anything looked like people opening and closing their mouths like goldfish. As they did so she suppressed a sigh and elected to leave them too it. Instead she tried to stand up and..failed at least on that attempt. It probably hadn't helped that she'd been used to having all her implants and such and all they provided for..quite a long time.

Seeing Twelve struggle, Coda offered her a hand and made sure that Twelve could see her lips move as she talked a little slower than normal. "Do you need help? I can hold some of you weight... uhm also the translator is broken so... it sounds like only one person can translate for us. I can only speak standard I don't suppose you know any other languages Twelve?"

"We're..not used to not having our implants, we were Borg for one hundred and ten years..or something along those lines." She'd then winced slightly then before she'd continued to speak. "We'd appreciate any help that could be provided." She then paused before she continued. "We know other languages.. some old ones but we're also very very deaf." Twelve actually chuckled a bit at that before she weakly sighed. "Standard, El-Aurian, a smattering of Rihannsu and a few other languages spoken in the Cooperative along with sign languages I..we've picked up."

She nodded and helped Twelve stand up. Her cat that was on her shoulders has since jumped off, but kept at Coda's heels. "Right, well, lets go out into the hallway then and see whats up. Can't do much in this chair I suppose... I'll go slowly to make sure you don't fall, uhm just watch your step."

"Thank you.." Twelve accepted the help up and voice a soft 'ch ch' noise when her Maine Coon almost proceeded to jump up onto Coda. The El-Aurians cat responding to her sound as they instead climbed up Twelve and settled about her neck. "And that sounds good." Twelve then started to slowly walk as she accepted the assistance from Coda. "..Thank you for this." (edited)

Kya gave a quick nod to the other officers before swiftly moving towards the tubes, and hopping inside. Kya’s journey to the top of the ~~mountain~~ starbase begins now. “Here we goo.”

She couldn't help but laugh a bit as her cat trailed behind them. "Ah, it's no problem, the tough part is gonna be getting through the tubes here... I know them decently enough, but I'm sure I am not the only one with the idea, so there may be a few traffic jams."

"I am underqualified and underdressed for this." Jayselle stated with a slight chuckle, trying to not sound nervous despite how nervous she indeed was, her hands clasping neatly in front of her. "I frankly don't have a clue where to go where I'd be of any use, so... Does anyone here need any help?" She offered, still entirely reliant on her telepathy to see, everyone appearing as nothing more than dimly lit humanoid-shaped blobs through her eyes.

The group had seemed to gather together in the middle of the corridor. It appeared that similar groups were forming elsewhere, with officers debating what to do. "...Does anyone know if there's..." What was the word? She couldn't think of it in Standard. "...A instructions for this happening?" Was she supposed to know that already? Normally in the event of an emergency, senior officers would tell you what to do. With comms down, it appeared that they were on their own.

Oh look, a question for an Ensign freshly drilled in all Starfleet procedures from her very recent time at the Academy! "In the event of total power failure all personnel are required to report to their stations unless unable." Jayselle stated as if reading it straight from a regulations manual, before glancing at the parents, one of them seemingly pregnant, and their kids. "But I think you have higher priorities right now."

With the help of Coda, Twelve walked along and looked down the corridor at the others. As she looked down the corridor at the others, she once again attempted to follow the conversations going on. Given the number of people involved in the conversations, she realized it was impossible to follow all of what people happened to be saying. (edited)

"Can't activate the hologram babysitter. No way to get me safely down to the civilian deck," Ivissa parroted her mother, whose usual stoicism made way for a deep deep concern highlighting her frown lines. "Mom says she'll stay here, but if you have somewhere you need to be, Miss Kea's mom..."

"Well there's a conversation happening in the mess hall, right? Wouldn't it be better for everyone who can't report to their stations to gather together there?" Jayselle suggested, trying to be as useful as possible.

Looking between everyone and back at twelve, she did her best to translate what she could understand so that Twelve didn't feel left out of anything. "I'm not sure if the mess hall is a good idea, considering how many officers are on this station it might get a bit packed.... I also am unaware of the what exactly is causing the outage, and as an engineer, I feel like this is the types of problems I'm supposed to shine in... instead its like we are just running around blind."

"As an engineer, you should be reporting to your station, no?" Vovvi cocked her head to the side. "That's the protocol for these sorts of emergencies."

Appreciative of the translations, Twelve looked to Coda as the Romulan Lieutenant Commander appeared to speak again. She'd then glanced back to the Lieutenant Commander "The Ensign has been rendering assistance to us, lieutenant commander." She proceeded to attempt to say in broken Rihannsu, her voice probably a bit too quiet as she chimed in, her tone not..right for a hearing person as she'd spoken.

She felt heat rush to her face as the lieutenant commander addressed her. Coda looked between Vovvi and Twelve a little awkwardly "Uhm, yes, I can use the tubes to get to engineering... I- I, uh, should do that now... uhm, can someone help Twelve here? She cant really walk by herself at the moment.. implants seem to be busted... along with everything else."

Vovvi perked up at the sound of someone she could understand, moving to Twelve's side and offering an arm to lean on. "If you'll allow me, Commander. I have to stay behind anyway, I have to keep an eye on my daughter. Let's get you to the mess hall so you can sit and rest, alright?" She glanced sideways to Coda. "Good luck."

Listening to what Coda said, Niwa set her gaze upon Twelve of Twenty. "There wouldn't be a good way to get you to medical right now. It's probably the same for injured anyone else, too. Maybe it might be worth setting up a mini triage in the mess hall." Evidently she had been reading her medical textbooks in Standard because she could use the word 'triage' totally fine without it being in her native tongue.

"All of them are busted.." Twelve commented then before she added. "We may be able to prop ourselves up on a wall, Ensign, if you give us a moment." Any further action forestalled by the Romulans actions and words. The El-Aurians attention fixed firmly on them and their lip movements. "..We find that agreeable." She commented slightly before she continued on to say. "Though we will have to get to medical, when we can." The El-Aurian keeping to that broken Rihannsu as she'd spoken and accepted the arm. When Niwa proceeded to speak, Twelve failed to react. Her focus was fixed on Vovvi and well, she was deaf. The words happened to go unheard.

With twelve safety passed off, Coda ran back to her room momentarily to grab her engineering case, and then ran to a panel to open it, once she was able to do that, she crawled into the tubes, her cat crawling in behind her "I'll see what I can do in engineering, I'll come back if I can to relay any news." Off she goes

"Stay there and do as much as you can. Let's get to the mess hall." Ivissa trotted up to lead the way down the hall, Vovvi supporting Twelve all the way. (edited)

Supported by Vovvi, Twelve headed to the mess hall. "That is..agreeable." She responded in Rihannsu, her broken Rihannsu likely both odd in tone on account of her hearing and odd in accent. Especially considering where she'd attempted to learn the language. With the Cooperative and part of her half..suspected or..sometimes believed, before then with the Collective. A slight outer colonial accent somewhat evident in how she'd uttered certain words

"Can I be of any help or should I head to my station?" Jayselle offered, glancing between everyone with a combination of bad eyes and half decent telepathy.

"You're all good to head to your station!" Ivissa called behind her, from playing line leader. Vovvi was curious just who all was down in the mess hall.

Twelve noted the kid speaking and idly wondered if someone happened to be speaking behind her. Not that she elected to comment on it. No, she just focused on walking as she idly ran through scenarios as she attempted to work out how long she probably had. That is if her nanites in her blood had also failed. How long until something failed and wasn't repaired by her nanites this time, until something they regulated caused her further problems. She frowned a bit at that and silently wished there was some tricorder somewhere that worked.

Down the hall Sakchai jogged casually, going to the command deck! wooo!

Bellona immediately knew something was wrong when her sonic shower stopped working and she couldn't call Engineering on her commbadge to ask why. Like, really, how would you feel if your shower stopped working about halfway? Sure, the entire station could've beeb undergoing a systems refit but not like this. Whatever it was, she knew she had to get to work. Hence she changed into her uniform and sprinted out of her quarters.

After going through her options for where to report to, and determining that most locations would be A, a trek and a half to get to, and B, not worth the effort simply because all of the consoles and any useful equipment would be down, Jayselle figured that if she was to truly fulfil her duties as a Crew Resources Officer that it was actually a good idea to stay around the quarters and help people that needed it, either by helping pry open doors or by getting people to the mess hall. So that's exactly what she decided to do.

"Mmmm... Kali-fal.. Kali-fal, I told you no baguettes, not at this time," Renakir woke up from his dreams to the feeling of his epohh daughter's rough tongue against his cheek. He tossed and turned until he couldn't ignore his daughter's attempts to wake up and opened his eyes. "What is it, Kali?" Renakir sat up to see the blue girl hop down from his bed and waddle towards the door. Renakir followed her and walked into the common area to see the lights were off. Nothing out of the ordinary for the Torre'vnau brothers but it felt a little warmer than usual. Renakir headed to his console to turn it on and check messages only to see it wasn't turning on. Kali-fal let out a few worried squeaks. "Yeah, Kali, something is weird. I'll ask engineering," Renakir tapped his comm badge but of course communications were down. "... Alright, I gotta investigate. Kali-fal, you need to stay here okay?" Renakir headed to Kali-fal's water bowl and pressed the nozzle to pour out some fresh water. Luckily Kali-fal's food and water was operated by a series of simple machines, not mechanical, but using a series of pulls and levers. "Be good, okay?" Renakir gave Kali-fal a little kiss on the top of her head and went to his quarters to put on his uniform and get dressed so he can leave.

After a brief moment of planning next steps, anyone who wouldn't be staying in the quarters headed off to make the ~~very fun, definitely not stressful and physically gruelling~~ journey to their workplace or to triage in the mess hall.
